What's in a performance engagement
Technical performance audit
We measure how the site behaves for real users and in the lab, then translate findings into a clear fix list.
- Core Web Vitals baselines
- Bottlenecks in assets, scripts and rendering

Frequently asked questions

What is included in a performance audit?
We look at real-user Core Web Vitals for each key template, split by mobile and desktop, then trace the bottlenecks behind them. You get an ordered fix list tied to the pages that earn money, not a generic score report.
How fast does my website need to be?
Google's thresholds for a good experience are LCP under 2.5 seconds, INP under 200 milliseconds and CLS under 0.1, measured at the 75th percentile of real visits. That is the floor. On revenue-critical pages it is often worth setting tighter targets.

My Lighthouse score is over 90. Is my site fast enough?
Not necessarily. Lighthouse is a lab test on a simulated device, while Core Web Vitals come from real visitors. A 2021 HTTP Archive analysis found that 43% of mobile pages scoring 90 or more in Lighthouse still failed at least one Core Web Vitals threshold in the field. That was before INP replaced FID and we have not seen a newer comparison, so judge your site on its real-user data in Search Console or PageSpeed Insights.

What usually slows a website down?
On most sites it is too many third-party scripts, unoptimised hero images, render-blocking JavaScript, slow server response and layout shift from late-loading content. The first two cause most of the damage on marketing sites and ecommerce templates.
Does site speed affect conversions and SEO?
Yes. Vodafone's A/B test found a 31% LCP improvement lifted sales by 8%. Google also uses Core Web Vitals in its ranking systems, alongside many other signals, so good scores help but will not outrank more relevant content. The bigger effect is on how people behave once they land, and the same fixes help both.

How soon will we see results?
Real-user monitoring shows changes within days. Search Console and PageSpeed Insights use a 28-day rolling window, so improvements appear there over a few weeks. Conversion gains usually show up quickly on the templates you fixed.

Do you only work on sites you built?
No. We audit and improve existing sites, including Shopify stores. If a smaller change beats a rebuild, we will say so. If the architecture is the real problem, we will say that too.
Let's build something better
If your current website or software isn't delivering, we think it's time to talk. We'll review what you have, identify what's not working and show you how to improve it.
